Now the Imbecile-In-Chief is said to be taking Paxlovid. I bet he’s not, really. The drug is useless.

King is such a blithering leftist jerk. I’ve thrown out any books of his I had in my library.

        • Octopus says:

He’s a very ignorant ass, politically. He used to have a knack for writing about a certain type of eccentric person, that made his books readable. None of them were ever scary to me, besides his masterpiece, “Misery.”

          • Bunk X says:

The Shining was pretty good, until he made the topiary start leaping and growling. Glad they left that out of the movie. I didn’t read Misery but the movie was mondo creepo.

          • Octopus says:

I read the book, too, but the movie of “Misery” is a horror classic. Something real that could actually happen. Caan and Bates were fantastic.

This story gets worse by the day. The abortionist who reported the story to the media changed the rapist from a 27-yr-old to a 17-yr-old minor, for obvious reasons. She should be charged with something, but of course she won’t be.

  5. Abu penis penis penis lol says:

Leftists can’t admit wrong doing. They lump themselves into a group and feign victimhood instead of apologizing for being wrong.
I would respect anyone if they’d laugh at themselves but there lies the problem. Leftists are incapable of self-reflection much less errors in judgment.

Over at Ace there is a touching thread about Dave in Texas passing away at 29.
His wit was top notch and was a regular, kind person according to those who knew him.

Was happy to hear that Scientology Prince Tom Cruise negotiated for 20% of the gross, for the new “Top Gun” movie. Which is currently at $1.25B in receipts, worldwide. Which means they owe him $205M, and it’s still flying high at theaters, having been re-released to IMAX screens.

How much does he tithe to the Church? I bet it’s a lot, at least 10%. He is a very devoted Scientologist, still very close to David Miscavige, who disappeared his own wife (POOF!) some years ago. It’s a very strange situation.

Chonky retweets this idiocy like a demented, morbidly-obese parrot. Masks don’t work, the vaccines don’t stop COVID, and the Idiot Left is still trying to call Trump a “mass murderer.” 😂

Am in Virginia to pick up a granddaughter who will stay with us for a week in Ohio.

    • rightymouse says:

      It’s 91 degrees!

      • Octopus says:

Balmy! It’s only 85 here. Bracing!

        • Abu bin Mopping says:

81 here. But been inside cleaning up after last night’s storm. Our sump pump bit the dust at around 8 am. It only takes a few minutes after an event like that to overflow. Plumber was here within the hour and replacement pump was running within 20 mins.

How I love to hate my house.😩 Am I odd that I like the bleach smell after such a clean-up?
Must mention how much work the wife did. Glad she fell for the marriage thing!😎

          • ISTE says:

LOL 81 is tonight’s expected low here. Today was a chilly 93 and that was during a thunderstorm 100% humidity.

Last time my panties were not soaked was March. Looking forward to November when dry underwear will be a pleasant surprise.

          • Octopus says:

The sump pump is one of my sore-spots. We’ve had two failures, in this house, which we’ve lived in since 1990. Both were bitches to clean up and dry out from. Now I have a backup installed, which of course means

        • rightymouse says:

          It’s supposed to rain. We

          • rightymouse says:

            We’re in Front Royal, VA.

          • ISTE says:

Rain here at night = good

            Rain during day = bad

          • Octopus says:

…the primary pump will never fail again, and will outlive me by the 30 years that are on its supposed life-span. But I think I would just die from a brain-embolism if I stepped into another inch of backed-up rainwater, in the basement. Which isn’t as “finished” as it used to be, for this reason. No carpet.

  16. Bunk X says:

Thought I was having some visual perception oddities again.
Last night I took a bag of trash out, and in the darkness saw a white letter V in the shadows that seemed to be moving toward me. Then it stopped. That’s when I saw the glint of two beady eyes about 6 feet away and realized it was a skunk. I was relieved.

    • Octopus says:

Skunks are nasty. I haven’t gotten over the time one sprayed me and my good dog Clancy, for no reason. Ran out of the hedge, Clancy barked, as he was startled, and then he got the ass-glands in his face. Some blew back on me. Took me hours to get him clean enough to allow him into the house. Note: tomato juice doesn’t work. I had to give him a lot of baths with the baby shampoo, to cut the stench down to manageable levels.

      • rightymouse says:

One night when I took our dog out, she took off after something. When I was able to catch her and get her in the house she was trying to get something off her face and she stunk up the house. I figured it was a skunk too, but tomato juice didn’t work either.

        • Octopus says:

That smell still brings back bad memories, especially during skunk mating season, when they’re all over the place. And then there’s that classic tune, which was probably the second “country song” I loved, after “A Boy Named Sue.”

A college friend I’ve lost touch with used to claim Loudon Wainwright was his cousin. I have no reason to doubt him, other than the fact I doubt everyone with an extraordinary claim. Is it that extraordinary? Probably not.

          • Octopus says:

Note: that was a very hit song, back in the day. And it deserved to be.

          • Bunk X says:

It got a lot of radio play in the Cleveland area.
That means they played it once for every 150 back-to-back Springsteen songs.

          • Octopus says:

How about those $3500-$4000 tix they’re selling for Springsteen shows on Ticketmaster(not scalped)? I laughed hard at that one. 😂

            Populism in action!

  17. rightymouse says:

Today, we’re visiting the graves of my beloved cousin and her parents. So far, it’s sunny 🌞.

    • Octopus says:

We had a nice park picnic with my wife’s Greek family. Great food, and several rounds of ouzo during the brief rain-delay. A good time was had by all. 👍🏻

      • rightymouse says:

We’re back in Ohio. What a mess getting into Breezewood today and then the seeing the chaos on the other side of the PA Turnpike heading OUT of Ohio today! Traffic was backed up for miles at the toll booth! Yikes!

      • Octopus says:

The Rascals had a cool song called, “Groovin’,” which these pervs have re-interpreedt as, “Groomin.” This is the version now popular in elementary schools across America.

        Groomin’ on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn’t get away too soon

        I can’t imagine anything that’s better
The world is ours whenever we’re together
There ain’t a place I’d like to be instead of
        Movin’ down a crowded avenue
Doin’ anything we like to do

There’s always lots of things that we can see
We can be anyone we like to be
And all those happy people we could meet just

        Groomin’ on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn’t get away too soon
No, no, no, no (Don’t touch me there!)

        [Bridge]

We’ll keep on spending sunny days this way
We’re gonna talk and laugh our time away
I feel it coming closer day by day
Life would be ecstasy, you and me endlessly

        Groomin’ on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn’t get away too soon
No, no, no, no (that really hurts!)
        [Outro]
        Groomin’ (unh! unh!, unh!)
        Groomin’

    • Octopus says:

It’s the shitting, that hurts the most. As an observer, I mean. The rest, is just hysterical histrionics. But the shitting is a problem. Because the kids won’t toe the pronoun-line? Really? You should be in a rubber room, for both the shitting and the rest of the crazy. Easy to hose down.

Grampa told us little kids to “Eat every potato and pea on your plate.”
We laughed and laughed and laughed.

          • Bunk X says:

One time I said something at the dinner table and Mom laughed so hard a pea flew out her nose and bounced across the table.

          • Bunk X says:

There are some dried strained peas on our kitchen ceiling; they’ve been there for 30 years. Little Bunkessa decided she didn’t like them much and dropped the baby food jar onto the floor. There was a sudden geyser of green goo.

I cleaned it off but left a little bit for the memories.

        • rightymouse says:

My hubby made split pea soup once when I first moved in with him 30 years ago. He farted so badly when we went to bed, he stunk up the bedroom. It STUNK!!!!! I fled to the living room. He joined me within a few minutes. He couldn’t stand his own odor. No more split pea soup. Thank Gaia!!!

          • Octopus says:

            😂😂😂😂

The thing about pea soup and beans in general, is that you need to have the right gut flora to process the stuff. The more you eat them, the less gas you’ll produce.

Japan put on a great fireworks show to celebrate the Stones’ 60th Anniversary concert. I don’t think they’ve seen fireworks like that in Japan since:
    A – Hiroshima 1945
    B – Nagasaki 1945
    C – Tokyo 1945

This despicable stab at humor was brought to you by the combined sponsorship of Pearl Harbor 1941, Nanjing 1937, and
    The Bataan Death March 1942.

    • rightymouse says:

My Dad was in a Japanese camp in China during WW2. They had taken over his school. I was very difficult for him to forgive them.

      • rightymouse says:

        ‘it was’….

        • Octopus says:

I don’t think I ever would have forgiven them, based on the atrocities and general horror they unleashed on the Pacific. I’m sure it was no picnic, where he was. Unless they were holding a cannibal cookout, as they did with some prisoners.

My Dad visited my sister in Hawaii in the ‘80’s, when her husband was stationed there with the Coast Guard. He was surprised at how many Japanese tourists were all over the place, even snapping pics at the Arizona Memorial, at Pearl. His comment was, “I thought we won that war.”

          • rightymouse says:

I believe Dad was able to forgive late in life.
Hubby and I have a very dear Japanese-American friend whose parents were incarcerated by Roosevelt during WW2. He was born here. Life can be complicated.

          • Octopus says:

The Japanese people who have moved into my town in large numbers are GREAT people, by and large. They keep their homes nice, excel in school, and almost never sell or use crack. Peaceful, polite, and friendly. They have no resemblance to the mad barbarians our fathers had to kill in vast numbers.

  37. Octopus says:

If you’ve followed Johnny Rotten’s career at all, you know he’s been a problematic pistola from the start. I love that he’s speaking out against the Idiot Left, and their insane cancel culture.

    • Octopus says:

Also, he was still a libturd when Obama was in office, and expressed the usual leftist horror about Trump running. However, as he started to listen to what Trump was saying, and saw how things quickly improved after his election, he became a Trump supporter.
Similarly, he bought into the EU’s crap about Brexit being a terrible idea, until he actually started doing homework about it. He then became a strong supporter of Brexit.
In other words, he’s a man who can think, and learn, and change his mind when warranted.

      • Bunk X says:

Mostly he’s just a loudmouth drunk attention whore.

The Ramones knew it, too. They were playing the same venue as the Sex Pistols once, Lydon told them they were coming over to their hotel room to kick their asses. Joey Ramone said they offered beer and things settled down.

The Ramones didn’t tell Rotten that they’d all pissed in the Sex Pistols’ pitcher.

        • Octopus says:

          😅😅😅😅
          Well-played, Ramones!

The book, “Our Band Could Be Your Life,” is a very well-researched and written history of the punk movement, from its early days to its complete sellout. Lydon doesn’t come off too well in that one, either. He was an ass, with a huge ego, who loved to look down on and lord it over poorer punks who were barely surviving.

          • Bunk X says:

The odd thing about early punk was that it didn’t really have a style, let alone an image, but the Ramones gave it one. Then the Sex Pistols came along and ruined it with the spitting drunk obnoxious garbage.
Hell, Blondie was punk. Talking Heads was punk. Richard Hell was punk. etc…

          • Bunk X says:

One band came on my radar just last week. Bunkarina asked me if I’d ever heard of a band out of Detroit called Death. Three talented black brothers were influenced by the Who, Alice Cooper and others, formed a band around 1973. They recorded some killer stuff but no record labels would touch them because of the band name. In 2012 or so someone found master tapes in an apartment.

There are some vids on the Utoobage that tell the saga. I was skeptical at first. They predate the Ramones and others, but there are a lot of protopunk bands. Check ’em out.

  56. rightymouse says:

What 😳 disaster? Just cut the crap off the sides of the potatoes and boil them as usual.

    • ISTE says:

Um, Baked potatoes are not boiled.

Also when a potato starts sprouting like that they become somewhat poisonous.

Can you remove toxic compounds from sprouted potatoes?
Glycoalkaloids are especially concentrated in a potato’s leaves, flowers, eyes, and sprouts. In addition to sprouting, physical damage, greening, and a bitter taste are three signs that a potato’s glycoalkaloid content may have risen dramatically (1).

Hence, discarding the sprouts, eyes, green skin, and bruised parts may help reduce your risk of toxicity. Furthermore, peeling and frying may help reduce glycoalkaloid levels — although boiling, baking, and microwaving appear to have little effect (1, 5Trusted Source).

That said, it’s currently unclear whether these practices are sufficient to adequately and consistently protect you from glycoalkaloid toxicity.

For this reason, the National Capital Poison Center — also known as Poison Control — suggests it may be best to toss potatoes that have sprouted or turned green (6).
