LGF Suckage & Karma Stats 5/27/11-6/02/11

Weekly suckage-efficiency and karma stats for LGF for the week beginning 05/27/2011 thru 6/02/2011 (Friday thru Thursday) [last week’s stats].

The suckage-efficacy leaders for the week remained unchanged. SteelPH and publicityStunted were 1 & 2 again, far ahead of the pack. No one other than one of those two nics has led the suckage-efficiency stat since we’ve been compiling it, so there’s nothing unexpected there at the “Blog Version of Animal Farm” as the NYTimes characterized LGF.

But this week we do have a mystery and an event.

The Mystery

3rd most prolific sycophant this week, with 94 dings

A quick scan of their comment history makes me think it unlikely that this person suddenly became a acolyte of Johnson 2.0.

Theories?

The Event
If you felt a great disturbance in the Force this week, as if millions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced, it was CJ getting downdinged 4 separate times by Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Karma stats below the fold:

The average karma for every single comment last week at LGF was +2.02. Last week Buck returned to his normal position as the lizard whose comments generated the most net negative downdings. Alaska Kim, a usual bottom ten dweller when she appears, deserves special mention for all the negative karma she achieved. She had an impressive -6.33 karma-per-comment average, and would have led in that category if she had made the (utterly arbitrary) minimum 20 posts for the week.

Here are this week’s good karma stats. As always, Johnson is the per-comment karma leader, approximately twice as insightful as the next best commenter at LGF, and four times as insightful as the average loozard by that particular metric (although we suspect there’s also a ‘suckup-factor’ involved here). Unsurprisingly, since he was among the ten most active lizards last week, Charles also lead in total positive karma accumulated for the week:

weekly karma average – GOOD   weekly karma totals – GOOD
  k-avg   nic   k-tot   nic

I wonder- If somebody shows up and acts a little dickish, but has a history of updinging Chuck, do they get to stick around longer?

    • ISpeakJive says:

Or…. if they give him money, do they get to stay longer? In other words, are Chuck’s principles for sale?

    • gizbot7 says:

I think it depends on who you are dickish to. Rules are:
      1. You can be as dickish as you want to the right people… you know, like Buck and Alaska Kim.
      2. You can be slightly dickish to the wrong people, but don’t go crazy, like with facts and stuff.
      3. Don’t ever be dickish to Ceej. This includes (but is not limited to) citing facts that make him look bad, thinking bad thoughts, being a republican*, any seemingly dislike of the O, linking to any other blog not pre-CJ approved, visiting any blog not CJ approved, etc. No amount of dings will not help you here.

*Republicans are welcome provided you are okay with getting the shit kicked out of you often and then thank them for the ass-kicking. Remember tho, standing up for yourself is grounds for immediate banning.

Now they’re trying like crazy to edit the Wikipedia page for “Paul Revere” to make it match Palin’s botched version of history.

Today’s news: Historian at Boston college says Palin is correct about Revere–and quotes Revere’s own letter.
In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them “there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.”

Boston University history professor Brendan McConville said, “Basically when Paul Revere was stopped by the British, he did say to them, ‘Look, there is a mobilization going on that you’ll be confronting,’ and the British are aware as they’re marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing — she was right about that — and warning shots being fired. That’s accurate.”

Patrick Leehey of the Paul Revere House said Revere was probably bluffing his British captors, but reluctantly conceded that it could be construed as Revere warning the British.

Can’t wait to see how the right wing blogosphere will attack me for this post. Should be a hoot.

Easy: It’s false. I looked up the edit history, and, rather than Palin fans editing the article, it’s anti-Palin editors who are trying to change the article to make it about how Sarah Palin was wrong. And deleting huge swathes of the original article that contradict that point.

For example, the most prolific editor of the Paul Revere page is one “Amadscientist”. Go into his user page, and you will see:

Dem This user is a Democrat.

Man, you’ve gotta almost admire the sheer blind dedication of Sarah Palin’s wingnut acolytes.

Now they’re trying like crazy to edit the Wikipedia page for “Paul Revere” to make it match Palin’s botched version of history…

    Reality:
At 10:30 EDT, one guy, Tomwsulcer, added a reference to Palin’s remarks.
At 10:50, another wiki editor removed the change.
    At 11:14, Tomwsulcer tried again.
At 11:19, the second attempt was removed.

    That’s it.

“Palin fans“, “Sarah Palin’s wingnut acolytes?
         one guy
         opinion of Palin: unknown

“Now they’re trying like crazy to edit the Wikipedia page”
         one guy, 2 tries

No additional attempts have been made to introduce any Palin references to the article.

  25. beed says:

Why don’t the BRC put up a post debunking Ceej’s latest bunk?

  26. Bunk X says:

And, BTW, Palin was right about Paul Revere alerting the Continental Army.

With a gun held to his head by the sentries who detained him, Revere told his captors that a militia of 500 colonists were armed and ready – pure bluffing – but it scared the crap out of them. Revere later described the action of that night in his own handwriting, but The Sage of Culver City says that Revere’s own story is false. Pheeew.

  27. doppelganger says:

Charles, here’s another shovel. Keep digging

  28. ISpeakJive says:

And Obdicut, and by extension the whole Charles Manson, sorry, Johnson family will keep regurgitating the meme that will never die that no warning bells were rung, nor shots fired that whole night as described by the idiot Palin. (Guggi, that’s sarcasm.)

“Paul Revere’s Ride”, David Hackett Fisher, 1995, has page after page describing which towns along the route rang their town alarm bells and fired shots to activate the citizen militias after being warned by the riders to get ready.

It will come down to whether or not bells were rung. Then Obdicut will back off and say that the riders didn’t ring the bells, then he will say that, well, Revere himself didn’t personally ring a bell, therefore Palin is still an idiot.

    Watch.

Now to be fair Charles, how many people tried to edit the article to favor Palin’s side of events, I counted that one strange guy (was reading his page and I can’t figure him out).

The article doesn’t allow anonymous edits, where there other logged in users trying to spin this? (there’s a lot of activity on that page today, but unclear what was being done …)

Charles didn’t say it was more than one person, he was quoting someone else.

He did so. Liar liar, pants on fire.

So If CHarles has a post up about how Sarah got her history wrong; when, in fact, she got it right,… this means charles will delete that post when he finds out that he has erred and has falsely besmirched a public figure. Because, of course, he is deeply concerned about getting the facts right and being honest.

    Right?

Or a retraction. He could do a retraction.

    Oh sure. It could happen.

    • Guy says:

      YES! isn’t that right?

wasn’t that his hindsight reasoning for memory-holing all those posts about the flight 93 memorial conspiracy and arab inbreeding and such? that he had been “taken in” by bad information and to stanch the flow of this bad information, he deleted his own replication of said bad information. in fact did he not congratulate himself for doing the only honorable thing by doing so?

so, will he be deleting this bad information?

He who warned the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms, by ringing those bells, and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.”

But the warning was delivered miles away to dozens of towns, first by Revere and Dawes on horses, and then by other men on horses and men who rang church bells and town bells, beat drums, and shot off warning guns. Revere didn’t really say “The British are coming!” because most of the people in Massachusetts still thought of themselves as British. But he did say “The Regulars are coming out!” (or something similar) to almost every house along the way to Lexington after he felt safe from that British patrol.

I see this as a nontroversy. Most Americans don’t even know the bells and shots.

When Obama gaffs bigtime, no one remembers.

When Sarah gaffs, no one forgets….or they make up shit and misquote her… it’s all good.

      ruh roh;

      Lizardoid tweets;

Palin can’t even remember which magazines she reads, but wingnuts want you to believe she read an obscure 1789 letter from Paul Revere

Yeah. This letter couldn’t have been read by any historians, and included in any accounts, or contained in any footnotes. No. Sarah would have had to actully read the letter herself to know what was written.

      Yew betcha, Charles!

    nils :
Charles Johnson will go as low as necessary to get accepted by the left.
What’s amazing is the guy holds himself out as political pundit and analyst and yet has said, on the record, multiple times, that his entire political calculus consists of determining whether there’s an ‘R’ or a ‘D’ behind the issue or person

I don’t think CJ is looking to get accepted by anyone, anymore. Like Captain Queeq, he has entered that special realm where people imagine parallel realities and comment about them to themselves.

True. The symptoms were actually pretty obvious. He started creeping in on the lounge to make sure he was not put down. Then started directing those that believed he was the topic or the one that dispensed intelligence. From there it went the way of madness.
