Charles blames Republicans for Tsunami damage
Posted: March 11, 2011 Filed under: Annual DoD Awards, Charles "Icarus" Johnson, Little Green Footballs | Tags: Charles "Icarus" Johnson, Charles Foster Johnson, Nazis, Republcians 105 CommentsThere once was a time when Charles Johnson was a hardcore Bush supporter. He used to mock people who blamed Bush for every problem in their life. Now that he’s a Progressive, he blames Republicans for the damage done from today’s Tsunami. He claims their budget cuts help create the extensive damage.
I really don’t have much to say on this. Charles really is reaching blaming Republicans for the damage of this horrific event. If a meteor hit, The Jazz Man would probably blame the GOP as well.
At least Chuck least is not blaming Nazis for the Tsunami.
At least Chuck least is not blaming Nazis for the Tsunami.
Give him a couple of hours, he’ll thread that needle in no time.
I’m sure the Japanese have their own.

Whole thing sounds awful. How scary for the people there.
Shallow strike/slip fault. Depth of the rupture is 15.2 miles.
Everybody needs to take a chill pill. No tsunamis. No catastrophic damage.

Your friendly neighborhood Geoscientist.
Yeah. Saw that earlier. Either he doesn’t give a crap about little yellow people or he is totally clueless.
Par for the course LGF expert. Excluding LH.
How’s Mr. Kotter been?
So did the Senate sign on the funding cut and the Obama signed it? Or did the house pass it and it went no where therefore making the issue moot? As is more common lately chucks point is a like passing wind in a hurricane? You can’t hear it but it still stinks.
I love chocolates with a Tsunami Center.
He’s blaming them for the NEXT, tsunami, not this one.
Read, and cogitate, before you post, my dear Daedalus.
Where does he say he’s worried about the “next tsunami”?
Citation please.
You keep imagining things are there that just aren’t there.
He wants Chuck to embarce him.
No one cares what you say.
Still have those daddy issues I see
I read it three times and still can not figure out how you came up with that. Then I thought, oh, maybe there was selective editing here, so I went over there…nope, same exact post.
Can you please explain?
The 7th largest earthquake in the world. The strongest in Japan since records were kept 140 years ago.
Just what kind of reporting center does Charles think could have prevented loss of life and property in this case?
This is just Charles standard partisan blame game. This particular example is just more transparent and vile than most.
Tsunami
There’s a big tsunami
Can’t you see
Destruction in Honshu?
Hawaii
Is bracing for impact
Even the
West Coast’s worried, in fact
Tectonic plates
Released some forces great
Greenies prate
That it’s “global warming”
Major distress
And one hell of a mess
Because there’s a tsunami

My dog paws at me when it wants attention. Shes a good dog but the insecure little bitch was weaned too early.
Gordon is a jihadi loving traitor. I just laugh at him!
Hey Charles! Hundreds and possible thousands have died in a terrible natural disaster in Japan. My church (evil Christians) is already putting together financial and pysical assistance. What is your little blog community doing for the victims other than blaming Republicans?
Have your little birdie get back to me with any real contribution to humanity you are willing to make.
He’s probably reloading Quake in his game corner.

So a union claims a 28% cut, and from that, MJ concludes that the Tsunami center is going to be eliminated. Really, Chuck. This is weak even for you.
He really is reaching.
Right. The dictionary definition of “defund” is “to stop the flow of funds to.” A 28% cut does not constitute “defunding,” and it’s arguable whether it’s fair to even describe it as “gutting” the funding, without first seeing what their budget is spent on, how much it has increased over time, etc.
In any case, most government “cuts” are only cuts in the increase in spending. Thus, if an agency is projected to get an increase of 100, to change that to 72 would be called a 28% “cut.”
(I dunno what the exact case is with the tsunami center.)
Spot on Wolfie!
Make that:
http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/03/gop-budget-cuts-target-tsunami-warning-center
yeah Charles, thats a reliable source. Of course if you do real research, you will find that there have been no funding cuts to the Pacific Tsunami center.
lgf search crew should get a bitch’n our for not letting him know.
Where’s Guz182, KKKailgore and ResearchOkook?
Chunkester’s twisting in the wind.
I don’t know who, by virtue of their empty headed spewing, is more repulsive. I think the weiner of the day has to be “celtic dragon” who is up in arms about something that someone else said earlier. Celtic dragon attempts to establish his credentials by stating that he is a person who nearly has a geology degree and will likely pursue a PhD… whoooooo…. massive horsepower there dude. Why don’t you come back in about ten years when you may have actually (possibly, maybe) accomplished something.
But don’t worry, for raw stupidity firmly rooted in youth and inexperience HappyWarrior has got you beat by a mile. What a know-it-all badass this one is…
beyond words.
Notice these “geologists” were silent when Ludwig was promoting that crackpot movie “Gasland”?
Geologists are a dime a dozen, about like business majors in the spectrum of degree difficulty.
Give him credit. It’s better to admit you have no credentials than making up claims that you’re an expert Talmudic scholar and physicist, like Dr. van Quixote (Job title: Scientist™) does.
Republicans caused the earthquake in Japan because they are racists.
Democrats caused the earthquake in Chile because they love alpacas and want to retard the economic development that threatens their habitat.
(You may cut and paste that, Chucky!)
“Please note that just last month, as part of their attack on scientific organizations that study global warming, House Republicans voted to gut funding for the Pacific Tsunami Center.”
That’s because AGW is a crock of shit, you fuckin’ dolt.
Dood. ^^^ Even that part isn’t true.
What is this word “true” that you are using?
How quaint!
Taking advantage of human suffering to score a political point. never let a good crisis go to waste eh chuck?
Chuck, having hit rock bottom, has taken out his shovel. His version of a trusted accusation is Mother Jones claiming that some quotes from a couple of union representatives claiming there are funding cuts prove the GOP may be risking lies. Great investigating skills, Charles.
This has to be one of the more tasteless smears on the part of Chuck. Hundreds are dead and his first thought is “how can I blame the Republicans for this?”
He doesn’t even have the class to separate the post about the earthquake from the post containing the baseless smear.
I had no idea one political party was capable of causing earthquakes and their subsequent tsunamis! We’re also responsible for super novas.
Blaming a political party for natural disasters is below the belt for any serious blogger, and for you to defend it, Nodrog, is simply disgusting. I’d love to stay and chat, but I have to man the earthquake button. We’re due to strike Panama – on orders from Rush Limbaugh.
Oh believe me – if Republicans could control earthquakes, San Francisco would be a 49-square-mile parking lot right now.
Checking the master natural disaster plan, I see we have California slated for a massive land slide with the remainder of the West Coast being taken out by the super volcano in Yellowstone. But only when Sarah Palin gives the signal. Shh.
Rove, you magnificent bastard!

Nodrog’s in Oregon. Make sure Oregon gets it too.
Killgore’s in Oregon too. A twofer
Like iceweasel gutted funding for your blog?
😆
I want to stay anonymous b/c I shouldn’t be viewing DoD during the day and I just rather keep my identity to myself, so you can believe me or not. I find this story highly suspect. Mainly b/c I work for the National Weather Service, in particular, I’m the budget officer for the Tsunami Warning Branch. As of FY 2011, we are one of the few branches within the Office of Climate, Water, and Weather Services (OCWWS) not to lose any funding this year. Here’s the main reason why, when the Sumatra Tsunami happened in 2004, Congress realized we were woefully unprepared for a Tsunami of that magnitude. Realizing the dangers to our coast lines, Congress earmarked money to fund the upgrades of the US’s Tsunami Warning Center’s (TWCs) and education outreach. As of today, that money is suppose to run out by the end of FY2012. So far, we have do not have a plan to replenish that revenue. A situation like this will help our cause though. With the austerity plans the Republican Congress are pushing for, our baseline budget would most likely take a hit like every other office. Since I refuse to give Chuckie any link hits, I refuse to find out where he getting his information. Most likely he getting information from some disgruntle employee. But here is dirty little secret. The United States pays a large chunk of the island nations tsunami centers throughout the Pacific. I’ve always found this unreasonable since it falls under the free-rider scenario where these Island Nations know they don’t have to pay for their centers b/c we will pick up the tab. Maybe that whats Republicans want to cut, or maybe its our travel budget, which is huge! Either way, their is more to the story then Chuckie or Nordog care to admit.
Interesting stuff. Thanks.
WOw, SO you are saying this story is BS?
Short Answer: Yes
Long Answer: Hell Yes!
Let’s not forget who was in charge in 2004, oh that’s right, the Republicans.
Read the Mother Jones article Chucky linked. An awful lot of ifs, uncited numbers, and anonymous sources.
Of course, Clueless does a libel of this magnitude and the interwebz and conservative pundits STILL ignore him.
Dude you are soooo no longer relevant.
When you’re on the 48 minute rule, you run with what you got, as long as it makes Repubs look bad.
Someone needs to do an imitation anti-O’Keefe, where they post a fake sting video that makes a Republican or some conservative group look bad, wait for Chuck to jump all over it, then release the unedited version that has the cast making fun of Chuck and eating Cheetos in the parts that were edited out of the first video.
So, if the NWS and NOAA and others did not waste Billions on AGW, aka Mike Manns broken hoockey stick fraud you would have a gold plated warning system, better research on earth quakes and the people of Japan would have had a better warning system in place.

Your on the inside help Mr. Watts prove up what the truth is.
Any bets on whether Ludwig will be able to tie the earthquake and tsunami to global warming?
There’s no reach here. Things get hot. They expand. Earth is hotter. Earth’s crust expands and…BLAM-O! Got it? Gees people. Let’s use our heads! Billions will die!!
Charles you fat fucker you are dreadfully boring. Go play in traffic already.
and to Fox Anchor sluts?
Fox Anchor Steam Ale sluts to you…
“Chuck, you ignorant slut.”
Gordo, I only wish the Republican Party were nearly as powerful as you crazily think they are.
I wonder if Chuck went to the ocean to take a picture.
But that would imply Chuck leaving the confines of the heavily-fortified and gated Cheetos ™ Republican-Monitoring Center for Truth and Justice…
The proposed budget the Chosen One submitted to Congress contained 5.5 Bil for NOAA. That represented a 56 Mil cut from previous budgets. I am still searching for the proposed congressional cuts. They are proving difficult to find.
But if, as Lance Murdock says, the Congress earmarks the money for the tsunami warning centers, it won’t show up in the proposed budget anyway.
Our firm’s already raising money as well.
Perhaps Clueless needs to find better sources than Mother Jones and Harry the Wino, who’s stationed at the local 7-11 when Clueless goes on a Cheetos run.
If, as Ludwig assures us, the science of global warming is settled, why do we need to keep “studying” it? Just kill all the people who don’t know algebra, already!
Kalegore at #156 on the “right wing terrorists” thread:
He [Republican Rep. Don Young] is telling a domestic terrorist to not comply with gun laws. If this was an imam talking to a Muslim terrorist would you feel differently about this? He was planing on kidnapping and killing police officers.
Two things: First, the way Kalegore wrote this makes it sound like Young knew the man was a dangerous nutjob at the time he answered his question, which he didn’t. Second, if it were a Muslim, Kaleboy probably wouldn’t be using the term “terrorist” and LGF would be describing him a a member of a “small mentally ill fringe group” and they’d go out of their way to insist that he was not representative of or in any way implying anything bad about Islam in general.
And of course, Chuck’s “NPR excuse” that people aren’t “trained” to give perfect answers to odd out-of-nowhere questions does not apply at all in this case, since Young isn’t a liberal.
btw, spelling cleanup needed on the thread title…
Fixed.
Oh shoot….I gave it away, didn’t I. Damn. Actually, if you just slice off the western coastline, you keep the red counties and the world’s finest farmland.
Maybe Nancy can share an iceberg with a polar bear as she floats out to sea….
When are sending the hurricane at Massachusetts? I want to schedule my vacation around that.
PIMF. “When are WE sending the hurricane at Massachusetts?”
Lex Luthor had a plan to do just that.

If you believed the Gore-nuts after Katrina, we were supposed to get – what? – five or six devastating Cat-5’s a year. Certainly ONE of them will hit Bahstin Hahbah.
Our military assets were used to provide coolant to the Japanese reactor – and that is my story.
oops…. that should have been: Our military assets were used to provide coolant to the Japanese reactor – and that is what happened.
(ahhh…. much better)
Not according to Drudge.
“US military DID NOT provide any coolant… Earlier, Hillary Clinton said Air Force ‘assets’ had been used to do so…”
I know…. I was having a little fun at Hillary’s expense. Remember when she went to Kosovo or somewhere and when she came home pontificated about how her plane had benn under fire? Well, it hadn’t and everyone knows it… but, she still went before the cameras and insisted that it had happened.
ending her little spiel with “and that is what happened”.
when we all knew it hadn’t.
which seems to be what has happened today (or hasn’t happened -depending on who you talk to)
Too subtle for me. 🙂
The petulant portly ponytailed pooch was awfully quick to defend Danny Glover after that earthquake in Haiti last year.
Kind of disgusting and pathetic to attempt to politicize something of this scope when they’re still pulling bodies from the rubble.
I like that even better than my suggestion last night of a Clueless “gotcha” interview on tape (thinking he’s talking to a lefty journalist and then publishing it all at Breitbart’s site).
Of course, the upshot of this in any event would be Johnson paranoia over any journalist asking to interview him and mouthing off on any video making conservatives look bad.
I rather enjoyed the ludicrous image of the Hildebeest’s jumbo jet making with the Himmelman rolls like an F-14 to avoid the bullets.
Heineman rolls? As in Ed Heineman?
yeah…. Hildebeest the Navel Aviator… 🙂
“Immelman turn”, named after Max Immelman, WW1 German ace
ahhh… thanks. I thought it was some reference to Ed Heineman (who designed a lot of airplanes for the US Navy).
Thanks OLT – I thought that looked wrong when I typed it, but couldn’t figure out why.
Oh man, the Flyboy is gonna be mad at ME…..
For Submarines.
😆
Oh “President Hirrary” we all thank you for that magic “coolant” you’ve sent us….
Did they call Plesident Hirrary a coorant?
Looks like Ludwig’s been tweeting:
http://dailycaller.com/2011/03/11/some-respond-to-japan-earthquake-by-pointing-to-global-warming/
HAHAHAHA

I was really hoping for a “billions will die!” rant today. Ludwig hasn’t pulled through, at least so far. I was hoping to be enlightened as to how this earthquake relates to AGW. I’m disappointed, Dr. Ludwig. You’ve failed me.
Tectonic instability is caused by man? Get. out. of. here.
Yep every step you take hammers the tectonics. We should start footstep credits for people to buy to offset how many they take a day
This is for Nodrog
Tsunamis: Know What to Do
PS. The NWS is not responsible for any deaths that occur by watching this video.
Short of building giant walls and/or altering the topography of the ocean floor, you’re going to have devastation once the tsunami hits. No one is “to blame” for that. So we’re really talking about understanding/prediction, warning people, and evacuation efficiency, and probably working toward reinforcing the most vital infrastructure.
CJ’s trick here is classic stuff; he’s a master at not making an argument. It’s pretty clever. By juxtaposing the tsunami story with the “gut funding” one, he can lead some to believe that he’s saying the GOP’s actions effected this tragedy. But he didn’t say that. Ultimately, he just posted two separate stories related to “tsunamis”. There was no argument. All you can say is pretty much what I just said, otherwise he gets a pass.
(This is the bulk of LGF history, actually. Real, original CJ arguments are certainly a small minority.)
So, I think both Nodrog and Daedalus are wrong here. Weird.

You are right. He writes every thing to leave a plausible ‘that’s not what I said’ exit. Then he watches to see where it goes before he sets his opinions. Always has.
All who challenged ‘what he said he said’ got the stick leaving only the teenybopper cheerleaders.
Now he sets his conclusions sooner, with less rational argument. Those conclusions are far more leftist and utterly ignorant.
Teutonic instability caused two world wars.
😆 😆 😆
Am I missing something, why are tsunami centers studying global warming? The most devastating tsunami in a long time and this one were caused by earthquakes! Please don’t tell me the scientists at these scientific centers saw the movie 2012 and are linking some crust displacement to the earth warming paranoia. So what now, we can stop earthquakes if we throw enough money into AGW reasearch?
