Helpin’ CJ With The Comment URLs

Over the past few weeks, Charles has been fixing the little holes and glitches in his website…as we’ve been pointing them out.  First, we divulged the big gateway to the memory hole (he had to fix that).  Then just recently, we laughed a bit as we played BEGhILOS tricks with comment numbers.  In both cases, CJ appears to have made the appropriate alterations quite quickly (and very quietly).

Now, I should have prefaced this by saying that most bloggers don’t really care about this stuff.  For 99.9% of the netizens out there (like us), we’re using software and online publishing applications that are programmed and built by someone else.  To use an analogy, the mediums that we use to do our thing are kinda like automobiles.  Most get around with the Chevys and Hondas, while a few have it a little better and might have a BMW or a Lexus (in terms of features).   But when it comes to the personal investment for that vast majority, the vehicle is just the tool we use to communicate, and there’s a heck of a lot more attention paid to the communication than to the tool.  In other words, most of us only worry about defending the content of the actual posts.

There is at least one blogger, however, who can claim that he is the proud owner of a custom-built hot rod of a blog (complete with sneaky pop-ups).    When you visit LGF, it isn’t just the blogger’s front page content that you’re seeing.  You’re also seeing a machine that is the culmination of many years of gradual upgrading, tweaking and customizing (the evolution of which, incidentally, really went down the memory hole with CJ’s move to block the internet archives).  And it probably goes without saying that CJ doesn’t like people pointing out flaws in his custom-built hot rod (hence, the quick programming corrections).

So, since there’s an opportunity to nudge the guy manning the chair at the Denver airport and send him back under the hood yet again, I’m going to point out one more little trick that I’ve discovered along the way.  It’s the fact that a URL like this…

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/showc/I_lost_to_chenzhen_and_it_was_friggin_epic/8787448

…actually works!

(Go ahead, copy/paste it.)

I certainly hope that fixing that issue doesn’t take too much effort, ’cause I think that would look kinda funny on the referral page.

I knew he was a bad programmer. Basic stuff like this is software development 101. Always validate, never trust user inputs. EVER.

Tuesday Fox News babes invade LewdWig’s ‘mental space’. Wednesday NASA feels safe enough – now that the one earthly scientist who could definitively refudiate their findings is mentally distracted by a mental invasion of hot, conservative babes – releases this: New NASA model: Doubled CO2 means just 1.64°C warming — ‘Important to get these things right’, says scientist.

Coincidence or …. conspiracy?!? Hint: you can’t spell “AGW deniers” without ‘N’,’A’, ‘S’, ‘A’ (well actually you don’t need that extra ‘A’, but you get my drift).

      It’s called “walk back”.

WUWT had a good piece on climate models a couple of days ago:
        new-peer-reviewed-paper-shows-just-how-bad-the-climate-models-are/

        Takeaway:

…we think that the most important question is not whether GCMs can produce credible estimates of future climate, but whether climate is at all predictable in deterministic terms.

Comments are good too, as always.

      • My Little Ponytail says:

They’re fixing to do a switcheroo:

“Do we have something better than GCMs when it comes to establishing policies for the future? Our answer is yes: we have stochastic approaches, and what is needed is a paradigm shift. ”

We’re not done with this dance by a long shot.

      • garycooper says:

The “walkback” is happening faster than I thought it would, even 6 months ago. There’s too much money involved for the miscreants to just walk away from this goldmine, but The People are very disenchanted with the whole notion, by and large. More and more journalists are becoming skeptics, which was almost unheard-of in the MSM a couple years back.

I don’t think we’ll see an epic-moment in this walkback, that stands out like, say, the fall of the Berlin Wall. Just a gradual abandonment of the cause, accompanied with lots of grumbling from the investors, grant-recipients, brainwashed True Believers, UN dysfunctionaries, etc., etc.

The kicker, is that this AGW Doomsday Scenario will be quickly replaced by the next hysteria that will be said to spell the end of mankind as we know it. It’s in our psychology to believe in End Times, and that we are living in them. It’s in there deep!

I have noticed that LGF does not feature the dreadful photography of Chuckles anymore. Could it be that the fatass never leaves his bunker anymore and has no new photos to share with the cult? I suspect that his entire universe consists of a computer monitor and a toilet and whatever space lies between those two items. He has no life whatsoever (much like the unemployed losers who worship the man), it is a sad and pitiful existence.

  11. KOS laughs at Chuckles says:

I’ve found Scriptblock and Adblock to be musts if you want to mess around in lgf’s comment threads and not have to go eat a sammich between page-loads. His site reminds me of the bad old days of dial-up.

I don’t begin to understand the methods being employed by Chen and others, but I lmao about Chunky’s instant responses to these incursions. He’s on Red Alert, 24/7. And you know he’s seething. 🙂

    • Well I’m really just playing with the URLs, after noticing that there were a few glitches in the matrix. It would’ve been really neat if the letters displayed in in the comment itself, but oh well.

While the first discovery revealed the memory hole (and therefore constitutes a serious flaw), the Beghilos thing was just silly. But a flaw is a flaw, and when its pointed out by one of us it must be fixed.

      • Lily says:

He banned a poster…forget his name for pointing out his blog wasn’t a cadillac blog and not all that great and this was waaaay before the huge shift of his blog and before he added pop-ups. So yes Chen you are getting under his skin BIG TIME!
He is very thin-skinned. And kudo’s for outsmarting the one who thinks he is the greatest.

I get it. Words are offensive when you say they are, and you’re the one who’s really being victimized.

    Fuck off.

And one other note. Please calm down and listen to your own complaint.

I understand that the way I chose to express what offended me upset others in ways that were not intended and I am sympathetic to the fact that others can get offended. Just as you expect that of me, I expect the same from you.

You do not get to tell me when I find certain things offensive or not.

    Right?

You want me to validate that you were offended by my language. I have. NOw have the courtesy of understanding what pissed me off in the first place and actually reading what I wrote without putting words in my mouth or assuming this is about you.

What a choice for the Mad King—the Vagina Dentata, or the guy who shoves it between his legs and prances around the locker room saying, “I’m a girl! I’m a girl!”

    • Yea it’s not going well for Ludwig over there.

I think Lud needs to read up a bit on why media, broadcasters, advertisers, etc. use attractive people to deliver the message and sell stuff.

      • Lily says:

That would mean he has an IQ over 90.
And really CNN and other news stations use attrative women. He extremely insane in my opinion.
And tell me what man doesn’t like a beautiful woman whether they agree with her or not?

Force Ludwig to watch the movie “Teeth,” with eyelid-clamps like the ones worn by Alex in “A Clockwork Orange.” That’ll fix him.

  24. Doppelganger says:

Somebody at the FBI or other criminal agency needs to do a psychological profile of little ludwig.

He has problems with attractive women and women of authority. His gushing descriptions of his ” girlfriend” tell me he has never been laid and probably never had a date or even struck up a meaningful conversation with an attractive woman. He spanks it a lot, always with rage against the ladies who done him wrong.

Honestly, I think serial rapists/serial killers have a similar hate of women. Look at Jack the ripper

    This cat is UNSTABLE!

    • Lily says:

And possibly dangerous…..luckily he stays on the computer 24/7.
His rants about women …show red flags all over the place in the mental area.
Signs of psychpathy and that can’t be fixed….just caged.

so, moving forward, it might be fun to put in whatever you want when linking to an LGF comment

I vote the latter. Remember his stack on books on PHP and SQL and AJAX and all that? You have to actually, you know, understand a few things about relational database theory to program with the big dogs.
